Description
Advertised as a “nonracist” restoration, this Japanese adaptation of Little Black Sambo provides a literal translation of Bannerman’s original text, but the illustrations transform the boy hero into a black Labrador retriever puppy. This premise creates a confusing dichotomy between the animal characters, wherein the dog family wears clothing while the tigers are naked.
