Description

This book portrays an older Little Black Sambo. Black Mumbo gives him twin boys, who he names Little Black Woof and Little Black Moof. Little Black Sambo cares for the boys, but one day monkeys kidnap the twins to raise as their own children. A kind eagle helps Little Black Sambo save the twins, and the book ends with the family eating a celebratory dinner of pancakes.

Bannerman uses racialized imagery throughout this book. The characters live in a grass hut and Sambo and the twins wear grass skirts, emphasizing their primitiveness. Additionally, Black Mumbo appears as a Mammy figure, and all of the characters are barefooted.
