Description

This collected edition contains “Old Sambo and His Bag” and “Little Gobbo and the Giant Hobgobbleup.”

Old Sambo’s Tales predates Helen Bannerman’s  Little Black Sambo by over 40 years. However, by explicitly identifying the eponymous protagonist as a “grizly-bearded negro”, this version helps refute claims that the term Sambo only became attached to black people after the publication of Bannerman’s book.
